Accenture Inc. (NYSE:ACN) on Thursday announced a strategic investment in OPAQUE, a firm providing a secure AI platform designed to allow organizations to run large-scale, general-purpose AI workloads with encrypted data.
With this investment, made through Accenture Ventures, the company emphasizes its intention to advance AI adoption while prioritizing privacy, data sovereignty, and regulatory compliance.
Accenture intends to incorporate OPAQUE’s AI platform into its AI Refinery and Trusted Data Services. This partnership aims to help businesses scale AI innovations securely, ensuring privacy and compliance without sacrificing data functionality.
According to a recent survey conducted by Accenture, 97% of 2,300 business leaders view generative AI as a transformative technology worth long-term investment.

However, nearly half (48%) of these leaders expressed concerns about their organization’s insufficient access to high-quality data needed to operationalize AI initiatives.
“AI is only as good as the data it learns from, but privacy concerns have held businesses back from fully using more sensitive datasets,” said global lead of Data Capability, Accenture, Teresa Tung.
“OPAQUE’s confidential AI platform helps businesses deploy AI agents that operate within confidential environments while maintaining data integrity and compliance. It’s about building trust with customers and unlocking a new era where AI can operate at scale, securely and responsibly,” Tung added.
OPAQUE's technology removes typical obstacles in enterprise AI, enabling organizations to utilize sensitive data safely, meet regulatory requirements, and maintain auditable, verifiable trails.
Enterprises will be able to deploy AI and machine learning solutions in secure environments, advancing complex workflows with confidence in data security.
Price Action: ACN shares were down 1% at $320.91 at last check Thursday.
